For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken, says the Lord, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:10

Have you promised to give all you have to your studies, work, spouse, kids, family, or church? Are you tired from giving of yourself so much that you just want to stop keeping your promise?

Sometimes we give to everything and everyone around us. We work and or study all day, have a little time for our spouse, kids and or family, a little time for ourselves and friends and then we rest. On weekends we give to our church, our communities, run errands we couldn’t do during the week and then it’s back to work and or study.

We are so overwhelmed with everything we do and when we look back we realize our time went by so quickly, doing so many things that we never really spent anytime with God. We promise ourselves that tomorrow will be a new day when we try to put God first, and as the day ends, nothing much has changed from the previous day.
I know at times I say to myself, ‘Tomorrow I am going to get up at 5:00 am to spend time with God’ and then during the night the kids wake up or something happens that when 5:00 am comes around I am so tired that I want to spend a few more minutes in bed, and before you know it, there’s no time for God before the day starts.

God knows I really want to spend more time with Him, and He sees how many times I fail to keep my promises. I am so glad that He is a loving, gracious and forgiving God. I am so glad that He is so true to His promises, not like me.

Jesus came to earth to show us how much He loves us. He suffered and endured all the pain and suffering in the world we could possibly imagine, plus more. It never crossed His mind to give up. He was never too tired to pray, to heal the sick and show love. His priority was us. We were on His mind constantly. He did not rest until His mission, His purpose was complete. When He was crucified, He was mistreated, spat on, laughed at, tortured, and abused, but He never gave up! He was strong until the end. His Love for us was greater than any suffering He went through. When Jesus said “It is finished” this is when He found His rest. He knew He did all He could do for us. In loving us, in healing us and in saving us!

In the dictionary a promise is a declaration or an assurance that one will do a particular thing or that guarantees that a particular thing will happen.
We all have given promises. Some promises we keep, others we don’t. We promise our families to spend more time with them, we promise our job we will be on time and be more productive, we promise our parents and teachers we will study harder, we promise our church we will attend and give faithfully. Promises are part of our lives but the one thing we should promise and always keep, is to spend more time with God. Promise to love Him with all our hearts, to never be ashamed to be a christian, to Love Him and His children above all things, to be faithful, forgiving and loving just like Him.
When you have spent most of your life with someone, you end up looking like them.
When you spend more time with God, you will become more like Him.

God has promised to love us forever. He promised He would come to save us. He promised we would be part of His family. He promised He would return to take us home.
What promise will you keep today?
Is God a priority in your promises?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for Your promises to love me, heal me and save me. Help me keep my promises. Help me spend more time with You, I want to be more like You! Amen
