Don’t just stand there…Move! – by Joanne

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. (Exodus 14:13-16)

“Do You Get It?”

“Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? Matthew 16:9
Do you at times forget how powerful God is? Have you seen Him do great things in your life and then fail to remember them when things get tough? Do you comprehend how God can hang the earth on nothing? Do you get how extraordinary and magnificent God is?
The Israelites had seen many plagues fall upon Egypt and none touch their lives. They saw the Red sea part so they could walk through it. God sent manna from heaven to feed them. Water came out of a rock to quench their thirst. But they were selfish, always complaining, and even worshipped an idol that looked like a cow. They still didn’t get it.

“One Bad Note, One Mistake”

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139:23,24
In music, one bad note can ruin the whole chord.
A singer can become nervous losing confidence and control of their voice if they sing a wrong note.
When a group is singing, the person that is not in tune, can totally through off the whole song, and what you remember is that inharmonious sound.

One bad note, or one mistake can make a huge difference.

“Horoscopes and Fortune Tellers?”

When Saul saw the vast Philistine army, he became frantic with fear. 1 Samuel 28:5

Have you been so afraid of the future that you read the horoscopes everyday to find out what the day will bring? Have you gone to see a fortune teller to tell you what they think will happen in your life? Have you had someone read your palm or tarot cards?

King Saul was very scared of the Philistine army, he was afraid of losing his throne. He asked God to tell him either through a prophet or a dream what would happen. When he heard no reply, he became desperate. The prophet Samuel had passed away and was no longer around him for counsel so king Saul felt insecure and fearful. He had forgotten who had made him king in the first place. He instantly asked for a medium, and they informed him that there was one in Endor. He knew it was not right for him to go see a spiritist, but he felt desperate, so he disguised himself and went at night.

“Just Like Absalom?”

The king covered his face with his hands and kept on crying, “O my son Absalom! O Absalom, my son, my son!” 2 Samuel 19:4
Absalom, was David’s third son. His name in Hebrew means father of peace, although his life was never one of peace. He was full of pride and vanity, he thought he was the best and no one was better than him. He was vengeful, he killed his brother Amnon for abusing his sister Tamar. He was selfish and disloyal to his father. He even tried to fight his father to gain control over the kingdom. His life was cut short. He died with unforgivingness, hatred, and a void in his heart. Although he was never perfect, and never spent much time with his father, the King, David still loved him with all his heart and mourned for him.

“Ask Boldly!”

“Do not be afraid of them,” the Lord said to Joshua, “for I have given you victory over them. Not a single one of them will be able to stand up to you.” Joshua 10:8

In the Bible we read how God was with Joshua and the Israelites when they attacked the Amorites. Joshua spoke boldly to God and in front of others, not behind closed doors (in his tent), asking Him for the sun and moon to stand still so they could defeat their enemies.

“Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.”
So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies.
Joshua 10:12-13

For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken, says the Lord, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:10

Have you promised to give all you have to your studies, work, spouse, kids, family, or church? Are you tired from giving of yourself so much that you just want to stop keeping your promise?

Sometimes we give to everything and everyone around us. We work and or study all day, have a little time for our spouse, kids and or family, a little time for ourselves and friends and then we rest. On weekends we give to our church, our communities, run errands we couldn’t do during the week and then it’s back to work and or study.

“Say Yes!”

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Revelation 3:20

The day was December 28, 1998. Jose and I were on the Kookaburra River Queens authentic paddle wheeler. He had come for a few weeks from Maryland, USA to come visit me and my family in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I wanted him to enjoy the Brisbane river and have a nice view of the city by night and what better way than on this famous River Cruise. It was a beautiful night, the food and music was great. Before the dessert came, we went outside to walk around the boat and view the city. I remember Jose began telling me how wonderful it was to be together. When he was in the middle of asking me to marry him, I said “Yes!” He didn’t get a chance to get on one knee, be all poetic, or even open the box with the ring inside. I was so sure God had blessed my life with Jose that I knew he was the one for me. I did not need to see the ring in the box to know that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.

“Shout Again!”

When Jesus heard him, he stopped and ordered that the man be brought to him. As the man came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord,” he said, “I want to see!” And Jesus said, “All right, receive your sight! Your faith has healed you.” Luke 18:40-42
