This Hymn of the XXI Century Brought Comfort to My Heart Today
As we were driving from Massachusetts earlier today, my wife Joanne played this hymn of the XXI Century, “Blessings” by Laura Story. As I listened to the melody and paid attention to the lyrics, it got to me, it went deep, and brought comfort to my heart. I have lived an awesome and beautiful life, which I am grateful to God for. Yet in the midst of all the blessings I have experienced disappointment, betrayal, sadness, unjust treatment, and some patronizing, among many others which I probably should not mention. If you have experienced any of these mentioned above or much more than what I have just articulated, perhaps this hymn can minister to you as it ministered to me. Listen to it and spend some good moments with God.
Tonight, I am thanking God for Christian composers and artists whom the Holy Spirit has used through centuries, including the XXI Century, to minister to millions and me. I pray this contemporary hymn will minister to you too!
Yes. Great reminder for all of us.
Laura Story is from the local Baptist church in my small town. She came back to do a concert there and told her testimony (which includes her husband). Such a powerful testimony. She is so down to earth and personable. If you can ever go to a concert of her’s, do it. She has a great sense of humor and you can tell she loves Jesus.
Here is her testimony behind the song: http://youtu.be/gjB2skJi2co
Thanks Jose for sharing such a beautiful song… it mean a lot to me too since I’ve gone through the same situations described on your depiction, and you well know what I’m talking about. As you know, I’m leaving the SDA Denominational work after 28 years of service. And I leave with my head up-high, very high. Now that I enter to work into the secular world for my last years before retirement, I’m looking forward to be an ambassador of God’s love to the dying (as Hospital Chaplain at CTCA) and to the law Enforcement corps on the East Coast (as Police Chaplain), with a good training in my background as a minister of the Gospel. Again thanks for sharing this beautiful page with the rest of us!
Dan, how are things going?
