“Ask Boldly!”

“Do not be afraid of them,” the Lord said to Joshua, “for I have given you victory over them. Not a single one of them will be able to stand up to you.” Joshua 10:8

In the Bible we read how God was with Joshua and the Israelites when they attacked the Amorites. Joshua spoke boldly to God and in front of others, not behind closed doors (in his tent), asking Him for the sun and moon to stand still so they could defeat their enemies.

“Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.”
So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies.
Joshua 10:12-13

Joshua might have thought, ‘what if it doesn’t happen?’ ‘What are they going to think of me? I will look stupid’ ‘Maybe I shouldn’t say it, the sun will never stand still?’
but he knew who God was and in whom his faith was in. He believed in the power and the promises of being a child of God. God gave Joshua what he requested but Joshua had to keep fighting and keep marching until the victory was won.

God wants us to ask boldly, holding nothing back. Many times we finish our prayers or requests with ‘if it is your will Lord, if not it’s ok’ It seems we are giving God, or maybe ourselves a cop out incase what we ask for doesn’t happen. We don’t want others to think we are foolish or don’t have enough faith, we are afraid, so we tend to pray our ‘bold’ prayers alone. If the prayer isn’t answered as we longed for, than nobody knows and we don’t look like a fool.

When we are part of a LOVING family we are not ashamed to say who our family is, we are proud to be a part of it and our actions and words show it. We are not afraid to ask for anything, we ask boldly, and if it is not given to us, it might bother us a little bit, but we get over it, because we know we are loved and blessed with a wonderful family.

God wants the same for us. He LOVES us. We are His children. We do not need to be ashamed in asking God boldly and believing that He will answer our request. We can come to him unafraid. If the answer is not what we want, we continue trusting in Him because we know He is our father and He wants the best for us.

When God answers our requests we still have to keep marching, and fighting like Joshua, until the victory is one.

We still need to overcome our addictions daily.
We still need to learn to put God first in everything we do.
We still need to live a life that represents our family, God’s family.
We still need to love others and treat them like Jesus would.
We still need to proclaim He will return soon to take us to heaven with Him!

Do you have a bold request?
Do you need a miracle?
Do you need a spouse?
Do you need a job?
Do you need a car?
Do you need friends?
Do you need to overcome personal battles?
Do you need to overcome addictions?
Do you need the sun and moon to stand still like Joshua?

Don’t be afraid, Ask Boldly! Your Father listens!

Prayer: Father, let me be bold in my words and in my actions. I am Your child, Lord of the Most High, Awesome, Powerful, and Loving. Let me show the world in whom my faith is in. Let me declare the power of the Lord in everything I do and not be afraid. Amen!
