“Disappointment into Hopeful Victory” 2

Today is October 22, 2011.  For many it is just another day.  For me and several million others it is a historic day. Let me explain.  In the first half of the XIX Century, there was a preacher by the name of William Miller. As he studied the Bible, he developed an arresting interest on the end of time.  Moved by the pain and miseries of daily living he began to search the Bible and Its prophecies in regards to the Second Coming of Jesus to this earth.  In his total devotion to find an exact date for the Second Coming of Jesus he came across a verse found in Daniel 8:14: “And he said to me, “For two thousand three hundred days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.”

If you’ve been watching TV, you’ve seen the headlines about the “Royal Wedding.” Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding at the historical Westminster Abbey in London. Some people are fascinated by this. Millions have lined the streets of London to get a glimpse of the “Royal” newlyweds, thousands have traveled to experience the “fairytale”, others set up their alarms for early hours to watch the celebrations from far away. Personally, though not a follower of these ancient traditions, I rejoice when I see young adults commit their love and their lives to each other before God. Marriage was God’s idea from the very beginning. On this day, I prayed for this couple and asked God to give them a lasting marriage, filled with love, health, happiness, and faithfulness.

“Something Really Fancy for My Family”

I just spent a few days off, a brief spring break, with my wife Joanne, and our two boys Jose III and Joel Benjamin. For many years now, our family has held the tradition of working really hard for 11 months and then take a long vacation in December. Though we’ve enjoyed this beautiful tradition, we realized it was time for a change. At the end of last year, we decided that we would break our yearly vacation time into several shorter breaks. What made us take this decision? We love each other too much to just enjoy our only exclusive time together once a year, at the end of the year. We thought we needed to do this more often. So far, we are loving it.
